Why we Exist

Why we Exist

Family Bible Study

Color in Truth began as an idea of accountability. I found it difficult to say the least to regularly engage in Bible reading and study as a family of six. I wanted a tool that my kids found engaging enough to remind me to pull off of the shelf every night after dinner.

So, I had an idea for a paper table-runner where we could record our study of God's Word. First I made John, and so we started this great adventure. It was slow and irregular at first--as is any great endeavor in the beginning. Why did we keep going? It was the way my children recalled the previous chapter each time we opened the scroll. This was an extremely busy time in the life of our family and so sometimes a week or two (or more) passed between times of study. (Like I always say, "We are SO incredibly far from perfect!"). What absolutely blew me away was that the kids still vividly described what the chapter was about! It was incredible and it is the reason why I decided to make these for other families.

Bible Study for the Whole Family

Here was something that engaged my toddler and my middle schooler. It was too good to be true. The add-on coloring pages for the littles kept them from destroying the scroll and my older ones were thinking deeply and conceptualizing the passage in order to record what they just heard. We all actively prayed for our neighbors, friends, relatives, and world!

Do you need Family Bible Study Lessons?

I am not saying a structured curriculum is bad. In fact, it's not at all. It can be a great tool.

What I am saying is that I want my kids to know how to sit with Scripture and read it for themselves. Depending on their own brain and the Holy Spirit to do the work of reading, listening, studying, etc. first, before a commentary comes into play. With the Scripture Scroll, families can model Bible study while also having somewhat of a structure.

Pass on a Love for the Bible

One of my greatest prayers and hopes for my children is that they will learn to love the Bible. I know that this is an act of the Holy Spirit as I have often prayed for God to increase my love of the Scriptures. He has faithfully answered those prayers.

One way that I can model this for, and teach this to my children is by using the Scripture Scroll as a creative tool to engage the Bible verse by verse.
